At 43, I find myself asking a question I can’t seem to shake:
What is my purpose with this life?
Recently, I came across another question that stopped me in my tracks:
When I’m 60 years old, what do I hope strangers would thank me for?
Not my family. Not my friends. Not my coworkers.
A complete stranger.
Would it be something simple, like holding the door as we walk into Starbucks on a random morning? Spotting someone on a lift at the gym? Or could it be something greater—something that genuinely changed the course of another person’s life?
That question brought me back to the first one.
What is my purpose?
If I’m fortunate enough to reach my deathbed one day, I hope I can honestly say that I helped people who were struggling. I hope I helped people who didn’t believe in themselves find a way through the dark times. And I hope I accomplished that not by having all the answers, but by simply leading through example.
I’m not a doctor. I’m not an expert.
All I have to offer are my thoughts, my experiences, and the lessons I’m learning along the way.
The truth is, I’m still in the early stages of my own journey.
This isn’t a blog about how to live your life. It’s a reflection of my own—where I’ve been, where I am today, and where the road leads from here.
I’m learning to be present. To accept where I am without pretending to be somewhere I’m not. To keep showing up, even when the destination isn’t clear.
If anything I write helps even one person feel less alone or take one more step forward, then this blog will have been worth starting.
